The project of the cycle of documenteries-interviews was produced in 2009 in Saint Petersburg for the channel 100TV, by Aleksandr Sokurov, sostained by the producer Oleg Rudnov. Sokurov engages with the key figures of the everyday Russian Intellectual political class. The director transforms the type of interview into pure experimentation, carefully choosing the context and allowing the words to play the main roles. Sokurov is loyal to his history training and his love of literature: in the films the discussions ranges from reflections on the history of Russia, the culture, literature, to the tormented desire for a better future. The real protagonist of this cycle of documentaries is human thought: culture and power are compared.
